Director &Professor
 Dr.M S John
Dr. John Moolakkattu Stephen is an early exponent of Peace and Conflict Resolution Studies in India. He read at Jawaharlal Nehru University, Hyderabad Central University, University of Bradford (UK) and Mahatma Gandhi University majoring in Political Science, International Relations and Peace Studies. Until recently, he was Professor, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences & Senate Member of IIT Madras, and the inaugural Gandhi-Luthuli Professorial Chair in Peace Studies at School of Politics, University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban, South Africa, a prestigious Chair established by the Government of India.  With twenty nine years of teaching experience (including 5 years at St. Joseph’s College, Calicut), Dr. John has played a key role in shaping the academic activities of the School and contributing decisively in its progression to a UGC SAP institution. He has had four years of international experience in the UK, the US and South Africa. He also serves as the University Director of Research, Director of Paulose Mar Gregorios Chair and Coordinator of the UGC SAP DRS Phase II.

Dr. John has published six books (four edited and two co-authored) and 67 research articles in highly rated national and international journals such as Public Administration  and Development, Cooperation and Conflict, Asian Journal of Women’s Studies, Indian Journal of Gender Studies, Peace Review,  Economic and Political Weekly, International Studies, and India Quarterly. The Oxford International Encyclopaedia of Peace published in early 2010 has five entries written by him. Five Western Universities and XLRI, Jamshedpur, have included his articles in their reading lists.  He is the recipient of Commonwealth Scholarship, Commonwealth Fellowship, UGC Research Award and Fulbright Visiting Professorship. He has been editing Gandhi Marg (quarterly), the topmost Journal in Gandhian Studies published from New Delhi since 2005, and is one of the founding editors of the forthcoming  South African Journal Ubuntu: Journal of Conflict Transformation. Peace and Conflict Resolution Studies, Decentralisation and Participatory Planning, Political Theory including International Relations Theory, Gender and African Political Economy are his areas of interest.

Dr. John is one of the most widely cited scholars in the field of social sciences in Kerala with 24 of his publications turning in 142 citations and an H-index of 8. Ten candidates have successfully completed their doctoral dissertations under his supervision. He received the Rashtriya Gaurav Award of India International Friendship Society, New Delhi, for his contributions to higher education in 2011. Professor
Dr. Mahajan P Mani

 Dr. Mahajan P Mani  joined the School in 1987 after a ten year stint of teaching at M.S.S Institute of Social Work, Nagpur,  and Indore School of Social Work  from where he graduated in Social Work. He was earlier the Director of the School, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Member of the University Syndicate. He is also an expert member of the UGC in Social Work and has served on   several academic advisory bodies, boards of studies, panel of experts etc., in various capacities, and has also  functioned as a consultant to a number of organisations in Kerala and outside. He has published two books and 46 research papers in various Journals and edited books.Dr. Mahajan has 35 years of teaching experience and has guided successfully 20 doctoral candidates and guiding 9 scholars. His areas of specialisation and interest include   Medical and Psychiatric Social Work, Research Methodology, Labour welfare and Personnel Management, Social Welfare and Rural Management and  Gandhian Social Work.

Dr.D Nirmala Devi 


          Dr. Nirmala Devi joined the School in 1994,   obtained her Masters degree in Philosophy from University of Kerala and Ph.D in the same subject from the University of Calicut where she was a lecturer in philosophy from 1987 to 1994. She has put in a total service of 25 years. She has published a book and 18 research articles in various journals. Her areas of focus include , Philosophy of ReligionEthics, Indian Philosophy & Gandhian  thought. She is guiding 12 scholars presently and  guided five doctoral candidates successfully. Recently she has undertaken a major research project    ' Impact of Public Policy and Rural Reconstruction:  An Analysis of Gandhian Approach' (2012- 2014)

Shri A V Joseph
Associate Professor (Retired)
Shri.A.V Joseph is one of the founding teachers of the School with 26 years of teaching experience to his credit. He has masters degrees in Economics and Social Work from Kerala University and an M.Phil degree in  Gandhian Thought and Peace Science from Gandhigram Rural Institute. Before joining the School, Shri. Joseph had worked for four years in the voluntary sector and was associated with Rajagiri College of Social Sciences, Ernakulam, and Institute of Regional Development Studies, Kottayam as a researcher. He has published six articles. His areas of focus include Land Reform, Social movements and Peace Movements, Micro level Peace Studies, Psychology & Sociology of Education, Alternative Economics – Feminist Economics, Green Economics, Rural & Urban Community Development, Development Studies, Gender & Development, Social Work, Social Entrepreneurship and the interface between Peace and Development. Dr.Roy C Mathew
Assistant Professor

 Dr. Roy C Mathew joined as faculty in 2005,  holds a masters degree in Human Resource Management from Madras University and a second masters in Management Studies as well as a Doctorate Degree from Mahatma Gandhi University. He was earlier a consultant to a number of large NGOs, and Project Fellow in the Gram Swaraj Extension Project of the School. Dr. Sandhya R S
Assistant Professor     

Dr.Sandhya obtained her MA and Ph.D degrees in sociology from the University  of Kerala. She also has a B.Ed  in socialscience from M.Guniversity. She joined the school in 2006 .Dr.Sandhya's areas of specialisation are sociology,socialgerontology and gender studies .She has four research papers to her credit.Dr.Sandhya is currently undertaking a major Reserch Project of UGC and the titile  'Vulnerability of elderly widows in kerala'.The period of this major project is to 2011- 2013.

Dr.Harilaksmeendra Kumar
Assistant Professor
         Dr. Harilakshmeendra Kumar holds a Masters degree in Gandhian Studies from Mahatma Gandhi University and  two doctorates in different subjects from the same University. He joined the School in 2009 and he is in charge of the service learning component of the School’s programmes. He has published two books. Areas of focus: Gandhian Studies, Alternate Health Education, Rural Development, Alternate Health, Naturopathy

Smt. Manjusha K A
Assistant Professor
   
           She joined the school in 2011.Before joining the school  she was Assistant Prof  in Govt Maharaja’s College Ernakulam for 3 years.She holds Masters degree in History and B Ed.Her area of specialization is Tribal studies.She has a minor project '  Tribals and their belief systems ;Problem of the politics of ownership,survival and transformation'.She has 4 articles in her credit.
